URMILA PAI, M.D.

Dr. Urmila Pai is a double board certified psychiatrist specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry on Long Island. She completed her training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Montefiore Medical Center. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She currently maintains a private practice in Jericho, NY.
As one of the few female child and adolescent psychiatrists practicing on Long Island, she has extensive experience in treating patients with a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including ADHD, Disruptive Disorders, Adjustment to Life Issues, Depression, Tourette's Syndrome and Tic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Anxiety (Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Phobia, Selective Mutism). As of 2019, she has been offering genetic testing services which can translate into a more personalized approach for medication management. She has completed training in the CBT-I (Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia) program developed at Harvard Medical School. In 2021, she has also completed courses in Integrative Medicine from the renowned the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Dr. Pai offers a comprehensive and personalized approach to treatment, incorporating both conventional and holistic integrative strategies, that is unique to individual needs. Her goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment that will enable patients to achieve and maintain their highest level of emotional and mental well being. She is known for her empathic approach to patient care and has a keen interest in educating students, families, schools and communities about the early recognition of mental disorders in order to facilitate early intervention.
Dr. Pai has served as a consultant to several school districts across Long Island. She has served on the executive board as the medical consultant to the Long Island Professionals ADHD Consortium. Dr. Pai is also the author of Nervous Nellie: A Book for Children Who Worry, which addresses anxiety in young children. Dr. Pai is a recipient of the Top Docs award recognizing her as a top child and adolescent psychiatrist in Jericho, NY.
